Barge to Business, while little more than two years old, is fast becoming the showcase annual get-together of the inland waterways sector. 

The most recent event, in Vienna, drew planners, logistics and freight managers, ship’s skippers and inland port authorities, all to join up with government officials and academics. Attendees were there to discuss and debate topics of the day and the future, and to listen and learn from expert presentations and addresses. 

Held in the heart of the city of Vienna, the Danube and its enormous potential featured not just in the conference programme, but was also the subject of discussion in the corridors and coffee rooms around the venue. Technical and business innovation, and the environment, were two other major conference topics that caught the interest and imagination of delegates.
